To get married in the state of New Jersey, you should be at least 18 years old (16 with parental and Family Court consent). The couple can apply in their hometown or, in case none of them is a New Jersey resident, in the town where they want the wedding to take place. Complete the marriage license application form, but don’t sign it until you get to the Local Registrar. You would also need to bring a proof of identity (your driver’s license, passport, or state/federal ID) and residency, as well as your social security card or number.
