Today I’ll be listing songs that are perfect for those fabulous first dances, memorable last dances and everything else in between! 2020 was a total washout, especially for weddings and extra especially if your wedding was affected by the pandemic. That could only mean one thing though… 2021 could only be bigger and better and so it has been with our wedding bands lucky enough to be performing constantly at fabulous weddings all over the UK again! I’m kicking off my top 10 list with Riptide by Vance Joy. This became a really big wedding song in 2019 and 2020 until well, you know, covid-19 arrived. Couples are still totally loving it and it’s a sure-fire big wedding tune for 2021.
Our acoustic folk band, Paper Boats (above) would tell you that it’s fantastic for first dances and during your evening wedding party because it is! It’s a fun, upbeat folk song and did you know that before becoming a music sensation Mr Joy was 1 year away from becoming a lawyer?
Top 20 Romantic Wedding Songs To Save On Your Wedding Playlist In 2023
Another folky, foot-stomping, pop masterpiece, Shotgun by George Ezra has been a big hit at all sorts of weddings we’ve performed at.
Georges stunning voice is a total wedding winner and if you have the soulful Talking with Fireworks (above) performing this song for you it becomes perfect for first dances, father/mother and the bride dances, during your drink reception or even wedding breakfast. It’s like it was written for weddings! We’ve found it always goes down really well at the evenings partying and if you listen 1 minute into the original recording it sounds like George burps!
Africa by TOTO has been mentioned in some of my other wedding related song lists before because it’s just so awesome and a great example of vintage cool. It’s always been loved by us musicians and it’s now exploded onto the wedding scene which is great! It’s fun to dance and sing along to so perfect for first and last dances!
Top 30 Wedding Songs (for 2022/2023)
Ignition Showband (above) are lovers of performing this tune to happy wedding parties and did you know that members of TOTO were huge session musicians before they formed TOTO and hit it big with Africa?
Almost no wedding is complete without Elton John’s music and Your Song has been a huge song for ceremonies and first dances for a long time. Ellie Goulding and Rita Ora have great modern takes on this classic so you are spoilt for choice! Romantic and delicate, this song is a perfect addition to any wedding and everyone here at Seventh Second regularly plays or performs this song.
I made sure you didn’t miss wedding song No.5 as despite how popular the movie and Shallow is, many wedding couples still don’t think of or consider this song for their special day. It’s wedding music gold and perfect for all parts of your day, most notably during your first dance. Did you know this song won an Oscar for best original song?
The Most Popular Wedding Songs In America — And The Ones Your State Loves
It explains why a great duel lead vocal live wedding band is needed to perform this song and From the Top (above) are always up to the task. They can’t get enough of this future classic!
Is this the king of all first dance tunes? Thinking out Loud certainly was during 2018, 2019 and 2020 and 2021 is going to be another year where Ed Sheeran’s songs are performed constantly at weddings all over the country.
Our wedding band The Avengers have performed this wedding song more times than they can count but if you love Ed’s songs but want something other than Thinking out Loud performed, Mr Sheeran has plenty of tunes with The Avengers having a beautiful version of Perfect as seen above.
Top 200 Wedding Songs By Tubidy
Stand by Me by Ben E. King is an oldie but such a wedding goodie! Another song that can be used during any part of your special day, we’ve found it works perfectly as a last dance.
Get yourself a wedding band like Night and Day (above) performing it as your last dance and the memories will last a lifetime. Stand by Me truly is one of the best and most popular last dances out there and a fantastic choice for any 2021 wedding. A little-known fact about Stand by Me is that it was originally a gospel song written for church services.
Not much has to be said about this Queen epic but if you want a unique first dance or nostalgic last dance, Bohemian Rhapsody is the wedding song for you!
Most Popular Country Wedding Songs By Australian Artists
Most wedding music bands leave this song to be played over the PA speakers but Flair Six have a pretty stunning live rendition above which never fails to pack the dance floor with dancing, singing and laughing people! Like all the wedding songs in my list, you will be one popular married couple if you have this song at your wedding! Did you know that Bohemian Rhapsody is the 3rd best-selling UK single of all time? Wow!
Shut up and Dance by Walk the Moon is a modern classic in the making and it regularly features in top wedding song lists. Its upbeat, rocky, poppy and loads of fun so perfect for an alternative and energetic first dance!
Ask the Usual Suspects (above) if they, wedding crowds and married couples love this tune performed live and you will get one big yes! It’s a fantastic song, very popular and one to consider for sure. Did you know that the idea for the song came from a girl walking up to the lead singer in an LA club and simply saying, “shut up and dance with me!”
The Best 2023 Wedding Dance Songs
Ever popular at weddings, Superstition is performed by our award-winning wedding band Party Republic (above) for all sorts of special moments at weddings week in week out and it’s now firmly cemented its place as wedding song royalty. Happy, funky and quirky we love it and we’re sure you will too! A little-known fact is that this was actually Stevie’s second No.1 single.
